Prologis completes 19,391-square-meter urban distribution center in Berlin-Lichtenberg and achieves full occupancy
Düsseldorf / Berlin, February 2, 2026 – Prologis has completed a new logistics center with 19,391 square meters on a revitalized industrial site in Berlin-Lichtenberg on Plauener Straße. Alliance Healthcare Deutschland, Picnic and Elis use the facility for the supply of medicines and food and the supply of occupational and protective textiles with short distances to several Berlin districts and the surrounding area. In the future, around 270 people will work at the site in the three companies. In this way, it contributes to local employment in the field of essential services.

Alliance Healthcare Deutschland GmbH, a pharmaceutical wholesaler and healthcare logistics provider, reliably guarantees the distribution of medicines and the care of patients in the Berlin metropolitan region and beyond. The building was designed to meet the requirements of health logistics in several places: unloading openings for vans instead of a classic loading yard shorten distances in operation. Temperature-controlled storage zones with constant temperature control of 17 to 21 °C support pharmaceutical storage.
Prologis has also signed a long-term lease agreement with last-mile food delivery company Picnic. The spaces combine modern office and storage areas with docks for delivery vehicles. Specially adapted access roads and loading zones for e-vans support efficient loading and unloading in last-mile operation. As a growing company, Picnic benefits from the location in Berlin-Lichtenberg, which efficiently ensures the local supply of the district of Lichtenberg and the surrounding districts and takes into account the increasing consumer demand.
Elis is a leading international textile service provider with 49 locations in Germany and Austria. The company supplies customers from the hospital, nursing, hotel, gastronomy, industrial, trade and cleanroom sectors with workwear and protective clothing as well as flat linen. At its location in Berlin-Lichtenberg, Elis organises the storage and handling of workwear and protective clothing for companies in Berlin. The textile supply is efficient and sustainable: Clean and hygienically prepared laundry is delivered from regional laundries in Elis, distributed on site to smaller vehicles and delivered to customers. At the same time, the depot serves as a collection point for used laundry, which is picked up by Elis trucks and brought to the branches for reprocessing. With the growth of Elis, the demands on logistics had increased in recent years. The new building offers sufficient gates for parallel loading and unloading, shortens loading times and ensures an even more efficient textile supply in Berlin and Brandenburg.
Logistics centre with raised parking deck
The location is located on Plauener Straße in Berlin-Lichtenberg in a mature commercial environment in the city center. As an urban distribution point for local distribution, it is designed for short cycles and parallel handling. The raised parking deck allows the
Simultaneous loading of several vans and vans with short distances from the storage area to the vehicle, shorter downtimes and more stable departure windows, which increases process reliability. The electrical infrastructure is prepared for future charging facilities and supports the use of electric vans in operation.
"Berlin needs reliable supply infrastructure close to the city – and that's exactly where we're investing," says Hannes Möller, Capital Deployment Manager, responsible for the Berlin area at Prologis. "In Lichtenberg, we are revitalizing existing buildings instead of resealing them and managing the site in the long term. This allows our customers to bring medicines, food and work clothes to the city quickly and predictably."
Prologis is implementing an end-to-end sustainability concept at the site: The all-electric building does not use fossil fuels and is operated via an air-source heat pump; a photovoltaic system with 1.2 MWp supports the energy supply. The property is prepared for e-mobility, so that charging points can be implemented on up to 140 parking spaces. Employee well-being is thought of holistically: Healthy indoor spaces with measures for air quality and daylight use according to WELL core criteria are complemented by the Parklife concept – with green recreation areas, pavilion, table tennis table and bicycle workshop. The area will be ecologically upgraded by a green noise barrier for residential development, green facades, bird houses and around 45 new trees. Prologis is striving for DGNB Platinum certification.
With a total of around 250,000 square meters of logistics space in Berlin, including a property currently under development, Prologis is firmly anchored in the Berlin market. The completion of a logistics building in Tegel in the first half of the year and the new distribution site in Lichtenberg follow the same approach: revitalising existing areas, planning close to the city and managing sites in the long term. This model forms the basis for serving other needs in Berlin with short distances and orderly, electrified processes.
