Galeria and Fiege expand strong partnership

The department stores' chain Galeria and the logistics service provider Fiege are expanding their long-standing co-operation. Fiege will take over Galeria's operational business in the central warehouse as well as transport to the shops.

Greven/Essen, 16 January 2025 - Galeria and Fiege are expanding their partnership. Both sides have agreed on a long-term continuation of the cooperation - and are embarking on a new path together. In future, Fiege will manage the entire logistics for Galeria from the central warehouse in Unna in order to organise inventories and functions more efficiently. In addition, the warehouse management system and the connection to other systems at Galeria will be modernised.

"Our logistics had to be optimised in light of the reorganisation at Galeria and adapted accordingly to the new situation," says Moritz Winter, Chief Supply Chain Officer at Galeria. "That's why we made a lot of adjustments and have now reached another milestone in our reorganisation. The adjustments will allow us to focus on our core business of department stores and the necessary supply chain functions."

To this end, the previous joint venture structures will be converted into a 3PL structure. In future, Fiege will take over both the operational business in the central warehouse as well as the transport to the Galeria shops for Galeria. "We are pleased to continue to have an innovative and reliable partner at our side with Fiege", explains Winter.

Felix Hettlage, Managing Director of Fiege's Retail business unit, adds: "Together with Galeria, we have mastered several challenges over the past few years and have already consolidated logistics to a great extent. The new structures will make our joint processes faster and more efficient. We are looking forward to taking the next step with Galeria."
