PRODAC celebrates topping-out ceremony for Ruhr Logistics Park in Castrop-Rauxel
The Düsseldorf-based project developer PRODAC has celebrated the topping-out ceremony for its warehouse and logistics property in Castrop-Rauxel. With the completion of the shell construction, a central milestone in the development of the new hall building at Klöckner Straße 55 has been reached. The new building for sole use will be ready for occupancy in July 2026 as planned.
Around 50 guests took part in the celebrations, including neighbours, representatives of the city of Castrop-Rauxel, the general contractor Goldbeck and other project participants.
On the approximately 18,300 m² site, formerly used for industrial purposes, the modern "Ruhr Logistikpark" is being built with around 7,705 m² of hall space, supplemented by approx. 462 m² of office space and 385 m² of mezzanine space. The property will be equipped with a green roof, a photovoltaic system for fossil-free energy generation, smart building technology and energy-efficient heat pumps. The sustainable building concept is complemented by an e-charging infrastructure as well as green bicycle and smoking shelters. After completion, certification according to the Gold Standard of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) will be sought.
Lars Zimmermann, Managing Director of PRODAC, who is also the central contact person for letting, said: "With the topping-out ceremony, we are getting closer to our goal of realising a high-quality property here with flexible usability and a contemporary sustainability concept. Future tenants from production, warehousing and logistics will benefit from a first-class infrastructure and the economic dynamism of the region."
Rajko Kravanja, Mayor of the City of Castrop-Rauxel, said: "The fact that PRODAC Industrial Real Estate GmbH will now develop the former "Grüter area", which had to be hidden behind fences for decades, is great for Castrop-Rauxel. As a city, we would like to see settlements from the manufacturing, processing and processing industries at this location."
Thomas Ratte, economic development officer of the city of Castrop-Rauxel, emphasised the importance of the project for the region and added: "We are pleased that the new construction of the Ruhr Logistics Park on Klöckner Straße will eliminate an urban planning grievance that has existed for over 15 years. Instead of building "on a greenfield site", the investors and all those involved have deliberately decided to revitalize this old site. This conserves valuable land resources and gives this area a new, future-proof perspective."
Goldbeck has been commissioned as general contractor for the construction work. The project management of the technical processes on site is carried out by Modevconsult GmbH from Weinheim.
Daniel Moritz, Managing Director of Modevconsult, was satisfied with the construction progress and added: "We are pleased with the construction progress on schedule and the high quality of the implementation so far. The good cooperation of all those involved in the project forms a solid basis for the next construction phases and on-time completion."
The logistics property is being built in a convenient location with a direct connection to the A2 motorway. The nearby A40, A42, A43 and A45 transport axes ensure fast connections to the regional and national markets – especially in the direction of the Benelux countries.
