Fiege puts expansion of Hamburg site into operation

The logistics service provider Fiege has expanded its multi-user centre in the south-east of Hamburg with an additional hall. A total of around 90,000 square metres of logistics space is now available for customers from various industries in this strategically important region.

Hamburg/Greven, 3rd February 2023 - The Fiege Group has expanded its location in Hamburg-Moorfleet. In the modern new building, the contract logistics expert will provide an additional 20,000 square metres of logistics space on two levels for customers from the Industry & Tires, Fashion & Lifestyle and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors. The multi-user centre is conveniently located close to the Hamburg-Southeast motorway junction (A1 and A25). Following the successful commissioning at the beginning of January, the ramp-up is now in full swing. The project was realised by Fiege Real Estate.

Christian Thiemann, Managing Director of Fiege's Industry & Tyres business unit, explains: "We want to further strengthen our presence in northern Germany as part of the Fiege Group's growth strategy. The Hamburg area is proving to be a particularly strong logistics region, not least due to Germany's largest seaport. With the expansion of the multi-user centre, we are setting the course to meet the increasing demand for logistics space on the one hand and to handle increasingly complex logistics services including value-added services for our customers on the other."

The new two-storey building, which offers friendly offices and space for 85 VAS workstations, increases Fiege's logistics space in the Hanseatic city to a total of almost 90,000 square metres. The high-quality property has a glass façade and a sprinkler system in accordance with VdS standards. A particularly unique feature is the WGK foil embedded in the floor, which allows the professional handling of water-polluting substances. Access is via ten loading ramps with electric roller shutters. In terms of sustainability, Fiege has opted for energy-efficient LED lighting at the Hamburg site. In addition, the flat roof will be greened like the rest of the branch.

Christian Unger, the responsible project manager at Fiege Real Estate, says: "Thanks to our many years of experience and our interdisciplinary team, we are able to implement innovative and sustainable property projects that precisely meet the logistical requirements. And, as you can see in Hamburg, this also applies to existing properties and during ongoing operations."
