Fiege operates the first action distribution centre in Italy
The Dutch non-food discounter Action has opened its first own distribution center in Italy in Novara. Fiege is responsible for operations in the 57,000 square metre logistics centre with which Action will supply its more than 200 branches in Italy.
Novara (IT)/Greven (DE), 18 February 2026 — Action and Fiege are expanding their long-standing partnership. The non-food discounter has opened a new distribution center in Novara (NO) in Piedmont to strengthen its supply chain in Italy. The property, which is certified according to the BREEAM sustainability standard, will be operated by the international logistics service provider Fiege. In the long term, the Greven-based family business will create up to 300 jobs in the distribution center in order to be able to supply around 270 action stores in Italy in the future.
"We are very pleased to open our first dedicated distribution center in Novara, almost five years after opening our first store in Italy. The customers gave us a warm welcome, and we are happy that we can now bring the Action concept closer to them," says Philippe Levisse, Managing Director of Action in Italy. "Our success is based on our strong business model and the commitment of our teams, of which we are very proud."
Jens Burger, Director of Supply Chain at Action, adds: "The new distribution centre in Novara provides us with an excellent central location to supply Action's growing network of stores in Italy. I am particularly proud that we are once again sending a strong signal for sustainability with this distribution center." For example, gas is completely dispensed with for the heat supply of the modern property. Instead, solar technology provides hot water preparation and power generation. In addition, the property has smart energy and water meters, LED lighting throughout the building, as well as charging stations for electric cars. "Every aspect of the facility, from the building materials to the equipment installed, has been designed to be sustainable to ensure green and environmentally friendly operation," explains Burger.
When looking for a suitable logistics service provider, Fiege was chosen. The two companies are already working together successfully at other locations in Germany and Poland. Alberto Birolini, Managing Director responsible for Fiege's business in Italy and Turkey, says: "We are very grateful that Action entrusts us with the logistical processes in the new distribution centre, which is a central building block for the expansion in Italy. We share common values with our long-standing customer, such as the goal of reducing our CO2 footprint, our commitment to social responsibility, and the appreciation we want to show to the many colleagues in our teams."
