Fiege celebrates topping-out ceremony for new logistics centre in Hamminkeln
The new Fiege logistics centre in Hamminkeln is taking shape. With the new building, the logistics service provider from Greven in Westphalia is expanding its capacities in the Lower Rhine region and creating flexible growth opportunities for customers from the consumer goods industry. On Thursday, the topping-out ceremony for the state-of-the-art warehouse took place in the presence of Hamminkeln's mayor Robert Graaf.
Hamminkeln/Greven, 28 May 2026 — On Thursday, Fiege celebrated the topping-out ceremony for a new multi-user centre in Hamminkeln, North Rhine-Westphalia. With the new building, the more than 150-year-old family-owned company Fiege is investing in the expansion of its network of locations in the Lower Rhine region. The property, which is located directly on the A3 motorway and is divided into five hall sections, will offer around 55,000 square metres of logistics space as well as additional administrative, office and social rooms for customers from the consumer goods segment. Completion of the logistics centre realised by Fiege Real Estate is scheduled for the end of the year. The operational launch of the first customers is planned from the beginning of 2027. In the course of the construction work, a new parking and ride-sharing car park (P+M) will also be built adjacent to the almost 95,000 square metre site on Isselburger Straße, which will be handed over to the city and the state company after completion of the construction work.
Hamminkeln's mayor Robert Graaf emphasises the importance of the project for the region: "The new Fiege logistics centre in Hamminkeln is an important impulse for our city. It is impressive to see the dynamics with which the camp is taking shape. The family-owned company Fiege has been present in our region for many years – and I am very pleased that Fiege has decided to invest in the Hamminkeln site in the long term and sustainably."
Jens Fiege, who runs the company as co-CEO together with his cousin Felix Fiege in the fifth generation, also underlines the strategic relevance of the new logistics centre: "For us as a logistics service provider, it is crucial to be present where it is most valuable for our customers. The proximity to important logistics hubs such as Duisburg and Rotterdam as well as the excellent connection to the Ruhr area make Hamminkeln a perfect location. With our new building, we are creating additional flexibility and can serve the requirements of our customers in an even more targeted manner. Special thanks go to the city of Hamminkeln for allowing us to grow here and further strengthen our network of locations."
In the development of the logistics centre, Fiege attaches particular importance to sustainability and future-oriented infrastructure such as e-mobility. Among other things, energy-efficient LED lighting, fast-charging stations for e-trucks, modern heat pump technology and a large-scale PV system with a total output of 6,500 kilowatt peak are planned. Accordingly, Fiege is striving for the sustainability standard EG-40 as well as gold certification (version 2023) of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) for the Hamminkeln site.
