Fiege builds new logistics centre in Hamminkeln
The logistics service provider Fiege is building a new multi-user centre in Hamminkeln and is expanding its network of locations in the Lower Rhine region. In the planning, the family-owned company from Greven in Westphalia attaches particular importance to the topic of sustainability. Completion of the logistics center is scheduled for autumn 2026.
Hamminkeln/Greven, 04 September 2025 — The Fiege Group will start construction work on its new logistics centre in Hamminkeln in September. The state-of-the-art property, which is scheduled for completion in autumn 2026, will have almost 55,000 square metres of logistics space for customers from various industries. Due to its close proximity to the A 3 motorway, the new location is well connected in terms of transport and fits seamlessly into the existing Fiege logistics network on the Lower Rhine with locations in Emmerich and Bocholt. In the course of the construction work, a new park-and-ride car park will be built on Isselburger Straße adjacent to the almost 95,000 square metre site.
Bernd Romanski, Mayor of the City of Hamminkeln, says: "I am pleased that Fiege, a family business that is over 150 years old, has decided to expand its network of locations here in Hamminkeln. The settlement of Fiege is an important impulse for our city. By creating new jobs and thanks to the sustainable construction of the logistics centre, Fiege is making a valuable contribution to the economic development of Hamminkeln on the one hand and to the energy transition in our city on the other. We are looking forward to a successful cooperation and welcome Fiege."
In the planning and development of the logistics centre, for which Fiege Real Estate is responsible, the logistics service provider places a special focus on the topic of sustainability. The five-part hall with multi-client capability will have mineral wool insulation and energy-efficient LED lighting. Sustainable heat pumps take care of the heating. The energy for this will be partly generated by a PV system that will cover the entire roof and provide a total output of 6,500 kilowatt peak. Thoralf Schuster, who heads the Real Estate division at Fiege as Managing Director together with Kai Alfermann and Nikolaus von Blomberg, says: "Using green electricity and producing it ourselves with the help of photovoltaics is a central pillar of our sustainability strategy. We are pursuing ambitious expansion targets so that we can expand our logistics centers into small, sustainable solar power plants and generate more renewable energy by 2030 than we consume ourselves."

Automated building management systems and smart monitoring tools will ensure that the energy consumption of the new Fiege logistics centre is optimised in Hamminkeln. For the building, the Greven-based family-owned company is aiming for the EG-40 standard as well as gold certification (version 2023) from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The construction of sustainable and energy-efficient logistics properties makes a decisive contribution to this. Our special thanks go to the city of Hamminkeln and Mayor Bernd Romanski, who give us the opportunity to realize this construction project and expand our network of locations on the Lower Rhine. We have been working for large customers from various industries at our locations in Bocholt and Emmerich for many years and are pleased that we can continue to grow in the region."
