Hessisch Lichtenau/Greven, 2 June 2026 — Room for growth: The Fiege Group celebrated the topping-out ceremony for its new multi-user centre in Hessisch Lichtenau on Tuesday. The state-of-the-art property, which is scheduled for completion in the fall of this year, will have almost 52,000 square meters of logistics space – spread over five bays – as well as additional office and social space. The construction project is being implemented by Fiege Real Estate. Dunlop Tyre Europe GmbH will be the anchor customer at the site, which will continue to drive forward its growth course in Europe.
Hessisch Lichtenau's mayor Dirk Oetzel said in his welcoming address: "It is impressive to see how quickly the new Fiege warehouse is growing. We wish you continued success and are very pleased to welcome Fiege, a traditional and at the same time forward-thinking family business, to Hessisch Lichtenau. The settlement of Fiege is a great signal for our city – and it shows how attractive our location is for companies."
Jens Fiege, who co-CEOs the Fiege Group together with his cousin Felix Fiege in the fifth generation, explained: "In order to be able to successfully implement a construction project of this magnitude, many cogs have to mesh perfectly. On the one hand, we would like to thank the city of Hessisch Lichtenau and our project partners for their great support - and on the other hand, of course, our customer Dunlop, who has placed their trust in us for almost 20 years. I am very pleased that we are adding an important chapter to our joint success story with our new location in Hessisch Lichtenau."
And Stephan Stenger, Head of Supply Chain & Operations at Dunlop, added: "A project of this magnitude only works with the right partners. And that is precisely why I am particularly pleased that we are once again working with Fiege here in Hessisch Lichtenau. A partner with whom we are not only represented at various locations in Europe, but with whom we have already successfully implemented many projects, for example in Gengenbach and Hungary. We are building on a collaboration that has been growing for almost 20 years now."
In the planning and development of the EU-taxonomy-compliant logistics centre, Fiege is placing a special focus on the topic of sustainability and thus the basis for the targeted gold certification (version 2023) of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The new location will have e-truck charging stations, mineral wool insulation and energy-efficient LED lighting. The logistics centre is heated with air-to-air heat pumps. Most of the electricity required for this will be generated by a photovoltaic system on the roof, which will provide a total output of 3,000 kilowatt peak. In addition, an automated building management system and smart monitoring tools ensure optimized and resource-saving energy consumption of the logistics center. In addition, a site-specific biodiversity concept will be implemented.
