Brownfield project: Fiege creates additional logistics space in Worms
The contract logistics expert Fiege is implementing a brownfield project in Worms. In May, Fiege Real Estate will start demolition work on an old logistics hall so that another state-of-the-art property with around 36,000 square metres of logistics space can be built next to Fiege's existing multi-user centre. Completion of the new logistics centre is scheduled for the end of 2027.
Worms/Greven, 21 April 2026 — The Fiege Group is modernising and expanding its location on Mainzer Strasse in Worms. Directly next to the existing logistics centre, the Greven-based logistics service provider is developing a second multi-user centre. The necessary demolition work on the old warehouse, which Fiege has previously used in addition to the new logistics centre built in 2007, will start in May. With the new property, Fiege will increase the total capacity on Mainzer Strasse by almost 10,000 square metres to a total of 91,000 square metres.
The new logistics centre, which is divided into four units, will be realised by Fiege Real Estate in accordance with the latest construction and environmental standards. In addition to energy-saving LED lighting and an air-to-air heat pump, the building will be equipped with a PV system with an output of 3,680 kilowatt peak. This means that the property meets the gold standard (2023) of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). "The large roof areas of our logistics centres are ideally suited for photovoltaics, so that we can use electricity produced in-house and further reduce our emissions. By supplementing the use of electricity storage systems, we want to develop our properties into small, sustainable power plants in the long term," says Nikolaus von Blomberg, who heads the Fiege Real Estate division together with Kai Alfermann and Thoralf Schuster as Managing Director.
In view of its location, the Fiege site in Worms benefits from the good transport connections. Philipp Staiger, Director Operations of the Fiege Cluster Rhine/Main, explains: "The dense motorway network, important rail axes for freight transport by rail and the proximity to the port of Mannheim and Frankfurt Airport make Worms an ideal hub for national and international logistics flows. The availability of multimodal modes of transport was one of the main reasons for investing once again in Worms and expanding our location." In addition to the good connections, the hall floor of the new Multi-User Centre will be sealed with a WGK-3 film to protect soil and groundwater and enable the storage of hazardous materials. Fiege expects the new property to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2027.

From old to new: Fiege is modernising its site on Mainzer Strasse in Worms and is developing a new logistics centre as a brownfield project.
