ASICS extends lease agreement for 72,900 square metres of logistics space at SEGRO Logistics Park Krefeld Süd
The Japanese sports footwear and apparel brand ASICS will continue to use 72,900 square metres of logistics space at SEGRO Logistics Park Krefeld Süd as its European distribution centre. SEGRO was first able to win the company for the space in Krefeld in 2014 - and now ASICS has decided to stay for another twelve years. As part of the contract negotiations, the two companies agreed on a green lease, among other things. This means that both parties will use resources and energy sparingly and economically in the management and utilisation of the space and will work together constructively to achieve the most sustainable, resource-saving and ecological management and utilisation of the property possible. As a basis for this, the areas already have energy-saving LED lighting.
"We are not only proud that ASICS continues to be convinced of our location, but above all of the green lease agreement, which is in line with the ambitious ESG strategies of both companies," says Sebastian Hofer, Associate Director Asset Management Logistics at SEGRO. As part of its "Responsible SEGRO" sustainability strategy, SEGRO focuses not only on CO2 neutrality but also on biodiversity, supporting local communities and promoting talent.
"The trusting and proven cooperation, the shared sustainability values and, of course, the excellent location of the SEGRO Logistics Park Krefeld Süd were decisive factors in our decision," says Andreas van Wasen, Head of European Distribution Centre at ASICS. The company employs around 250 people at the distribution centre in Krefeld.
The SEGRO Logistics Park Krefeld Süd is centrally located between Rotterdam and the Ruhr area at an ideal hub for the delivery and distribution of goods in a region with over twelve million consumers.
With over 200,000 square metres of rental space, the site is one of the first and now largest SEGRO parks in Germany. In addition to ASICS, other well-known tenants such as DSV and UPS have settled on site and benefit from the perfect connection to the A44, A57 and A52 motorways as well as access to one of the densest motorway networks in Europe. A large number of regional freight carriers and an extensive rail network create the best conditions for road-rail transhipment. Düsseldorf-International, one of the most important air freight hubs in Europe, can be reached in just a few minutes.
