Start of construction for new logistics terminal in Naila, Upper Franconia - Geis Bischoff Logistics breaks ground

Naila / Bad Neustadt, 30 March 2023: The internationally active Geis Group is building a new logistics terminal in Naila, Upper Franconia. Yesterday, Wednesday, the symbolic ground-breaking ceremony marked the official start of construction work on a 56,000 square metre site in the Kalkofen industrial estate. The new facility is scheduled to go into operation as early as September. The Geis Group is investing around 10 million euros in the property.

The ground-breaking ceremony for the new building was attended by Managing Partners Wolfgang Geis, Hans-Wolfgang Geis and Jochen Geis, as well as Martin Vonderau, Head of Construction + Real Estate, and Branch Manager Sebastian Seehofer from the Geis Group, together with Dr Oliver Bär, District Administrator of the Hof district, and Frank Stumpf, Mayor of the town of Naila.

Geis Bischoff Logistics will be building its first own logistics terminal on the site in the coming months. "As a full-service logistics provider, we have already offered our customers in and around Naila individual contract logistics services such as warehousing or order picking," explain Hans-Wolfgang Geis and Jochen Geis. "With the new building and the associated dissolution of the external warehouses we have been using up to now, we will be bundling our logistics services and expertise in one place in future. Our customers will benefit from the more customised solutions."

Efficient and sustainable

The planned multi-user facility with its 10,000 square metres of space, suitable racking and ten loading gates is perfectly suited to these tasks. In addition to efficiency, Geis Bischoff Logistics is also focussing on sustainability. For example, a photovoltaic system is planned on the roof of the property to produce "green" electricity and the lighting in the hall will be realised using an energy-efficient LED system. Another advantage of the logistics centre is its proximity to the Geis Bischoff Logistics transshipment terminal in Naila, which is only 500 metres away. The company can therefore offer customers late cut-off times and the goods can flow directly into the daily system transports for the whole of Europe.

Space for a second building

Geis Bischoff Logistics is also prepared for future growth in the Naila region: The site offers space for a further 10,000 square metre logistics facility. "We have already prepared the site for the expansion as part of the earthworks," says branch manager Sebastian Seehofer. "If the demand for optimal logistics conditions continues to grow, we can create additional capacity at short notice."
