New building with future potential: DB Schenker Saarland moves to Neunkirchen
- Strategically favourable location with growth potential
- New building with DGNB gold certification
- High-performance cross-dock terminal with 119 gates
Frankfurt am Main / Neunkirchen, 27 June 2023 - DB Schenker is positioning itself for further growth in Saarland. The logistics service provider is building a new cross-dock terminal and a generously designed and modern office building in a strategically favourable location in Neunkirchen on more than 70,000 square metres by the end of 2024. With 119 loading gates and 10,500 square metres of hall space, the new building will enable a significant increase in capacity and performance.

The central location in Saarland optimises both the connection to the DB Schenker land transport network, the largest in Europe, as well as transport to neighbouring logistics centres. Customers from trade and industry benefit from even better transit times for general cargo and part/complete loads as well as additional security for their goods, while employees benefit from state-of-the-art working conditions and social areas.
Ralf Többe, Head of Land Transport at DB Schenker Germany/Switzerland: "With the modernisation and relocation of our Saarland office to Neunkirchen, we are once again optimising the capacities and performance of our already very efficient European land transport network. We are therefore ideally positioned for further growth in Saarland, the whole of France and other European countries."
With the new building, DB Schenker is investing in high standards of sustainability with DGNB Gold certification and is thus preparing for resource and environmentally friendly operation of the site. A photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof of the terminal, which will feed ten charging points for electric cars and eight charging points for electric lorries, among other things.
With Casaplan Seeliger GmbH and the contractor Goldbeck, experienced partners were chosen to realise the project. Casaplan Seeliger has been developing logistics properties with a strong focus on sustainability aspects for more than 30 years. Goldbeck is a German leader in the realisation of turnkey warehouses. DB Schenker becomes owner of the new property.
On 27 June 2023, the ground-breaking ceremony was celebrated at the future site with around 100 guests, including the Chairman of the Management Board of DB Schenker in the Germany/Switzerland cluster, Roland Dressler, as well as numerous representatives from politics and business.
With its office and numerous logistics locations in Saarland, DB Schenker offers a high-performance portfolio of transport and logistics services. The furniture industry, automotive and wine logistics are particularly important sectors. Geographically, 15 fixed destinations in France, the BeNeLux countries and all German DB Schenker branches form a focal point.
