ID LOGISTICS AND ENPAL: OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE CENTRAL LOGISTICS HUB FOR COMPLETE REGENERATIVE SYSTEMS IN PHILIPPSBURG

- ID Logistics enters into the provision of transport services in Germany in addition to contract logistics
- In Germany, ID Logistics now operates nine large and efficient logistics locations for its customers with a total logistics area of more than 500,000 square metres

On 27 October 2023, the contract service provider ID Logistics and its customer, the energy company Enpal, celebrated the opening of one of the largest distribution sites for complete renewable energy systems in Germany with around 250 guests. ID Logistics operates the central distribution centre for greentech Enpal in Germany in Philippsburg on a floor space of around 35,000 square metres.

Representatives from politics and the local community, customers as well as young and old citizens of Philippsburg and local residents were invited as guests. They were able to get their own impression of the extensive contract services in the buildings, which will be completed in 2023 using sustainable construction methods, with short presentations, a company film, good conversations in a pleasant atmosphere and a tour of the buildings.

With over 50,000 customers in Germany and several thousand new solar installations per month, Enpal is the fastest-growing energy company in Germany (FT1000 Ranking 2022 & 2023 Financial Times & Statista). The declared goal is to supply one million households with solar energy by the end of the decade and thus become the largest renewable community in Europe.

Comprehensive contracting and transport services

To support Enpal in achieving this goal, ID Logistics was commissioned to organise the entire supply chain for all products and systems. This has included PV systems since the start and the product portfolio has since been expanded to include heat pumps. Every day, ID Logistics receives up to 600 pallets at the logistics centre (inbound) and dispatches them to end customers (outbound).

The contract also includes transport to Enpal customers from the warehouse to the construction site or to the point of use (end-2-end) in the general cargo system.

At the official opening on 27 October 2023, the companies also announced that ID Logistics had been commissioned by Enpal to handle the central logistics for operating materials such as assembly materials and tools. The associated smart delivery concept will be handled by parcel delivery (CEP service provider), among others, and will start in the first quarter of 2024.

To provide all services, ID Logistics quickly selected a regionally and qualitatively suitable logistics property that was available at short notice and commenced operations in Philippsburg in March 2023. The first deliveries to and from the assembly teams took place just one week later. In addition to the rapid start of logistics and transport services, ID Logistics quickly recruited and trained employees, implemented efficient IT and technology, set up the organisation and integrated a service provider to transport the products.

Managing growth and product diversity

Today, the main task of ID Logistics in Philippsburg is, firstly, to precisely manage the rapid growth in the number of regenerative system products from end consumers and companies in the distribution centre. Secondly, it is about integrating the constantly growing variety of Enpal products into the logistics activities.

"The world is changing every day - this is also reflected every day in the supply of products to end customers and companies through precise logistics services. ID Logistics meets the challenge of these rapidly growing markets with highly qualified employees, both locally and at our company headquarters in Griesheim, by quickly achieving robust systems and processes, even in new sectors, and a high degree of flexibility in the integration of additional products and services. What is needed is a great ability to adapt, coupled with a willingness to invest," says Robin Otto, CEO of ID Logistics Germany. "We would like to thank our customer Enpal for the trust they have placed in us, our employees for their enormous commitment and the city of Philippsburg and its citizens for welcoming us as a new neighbour," Robin Otto continues.

"The commissioning of the central logistics hub in Philippsburg is a decisive milestone on our path to accelerating the energy transition. In close cooperation with ID Logistics, we have created a state-of-the-art, sustainable infrastructure that not only enables the efficient distribution of our solar solutions and heat pumps, but also forms a solid basis for our continuous growth and the expansion of our product range. By joining forces with such an experienced and innovative logistics partner as ID Logistics, we are ideally positioned to optimise the supply chain and end-to-end service for our customers," explained Steffen Reckert, Vice President Logistics at Enpal.

"At Group level, Germany is geographically one of our target markets for future investments. Over the past three years, ID Logistics Germany has developed into a strong logistics partner for renowned companies in the e-commerce, FMCG and retail sectors and now manages a total of more than 500,000 square metres of space at nine large-scale logistics locations. The recent entry into the renewable energy sector with Enpal marks a new milestone for the Group and is part of our success story. We believe ID Logistics Germany is very well equipped for the future," said Eric Hémar, founder and President of the ID Logistics Group.
