GRS enters the German market with flexible, collaborative solution for Robotics as a Service (RaaS)
- Experienced partner with innovative subscription model with no initial capital requirement
- Customers can quickly expand, downsize and adapt RaaS solution to changing market conditions or seasonal peaks, such as before Christmas or Black Friday
- Fulfilment automation for increased productivity in warehousing and logistics
Frankfurt, 23 March 2023 - GRS (Global Robotics Services), a provider of rental solutions for the automation of fulfilment, warehousing and logistics, presents its innovative solution for Robotics as a Service (RaaS) for its market entry in Germany.

GRS is the robotics division of GLP, the leading global developer of logistics real estate, digital infrastructure, renewable energy and related technologies. GRS is an innovative platform for customers who want to make their logistics more productive through the use of robotics. With flexible subscriptions, intelligent robots and a complete service, GRS is aimed at large and medium-sized companies in the contract logistics, express and e-commerce markets in the fashion, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and other e-commerce segments.
Many e-commerce companies are faced with strained supply chains, fluctuations in demand and increased costs due to inflation. Depending on the geographical region, labour shortages are also having an impact. It slows down recruitment, while employee turnover increases. In this situation, the automation of fulfilment, warehousing and logistics can be an excellent solution to increase the efficiency and productivity of the company and the safety of warehousing for employees. However, high initial capital requirements are often a barrier to automation.1
"We offer our customers one-stop solutions based on an innovative subscription model with no initial capital requirement and no long-term capital commitment. The costs are based on utilisation, and payment is made on a time and material basis. Our customers do not bear any asset risks. Instead, they secure a clear market advantage by automating the processes for fulfilment, warehousing and logistics," says Jens Müller, Sales Director, Germany, Central and Eastern Europe, GRS.

Advantage through RaaS
RaaS offers a space-saving, efficient solution and a high-quality, comprehensive service that enables tenants to streamline their warehousing processes and maximise their productivity. The complete service from GRS includes advice, planning, provision of robots, installation and maintenance as well as adaptation to changing market developments. GRS can customise the scope and type of service to meet its customers' requirements.
It takes around three months from signing the contract after the test phase to productive use. The configuration can comprise 600-6,000 stations, depending on customer-specific requirements.
RaaS versus purchase solution
Unlike RaaS, owners of a robotics infrastructure have to invest large sums of money. The initial capital requirement is followed by ongoing maintenance costs, which are generally expensive and difficult to calculate.
The situation is completely different with RaaS solutions, because with leased systems, the long-term capital commitment is replaced by easily calculable operating costs. As a result, GRS offers its customers the opportunity to make reliable predictions about the return on investment for the use of the system.
"RaaS offers three major advantages over purchased systems: a clear cost advantage, greater flexibility and more security. There are no capital costs for the customer. Instead, they can call up robotics services at will. As a result, RaaS overcomes the uncertainty that otherwise surrounds robotics. We are accelerating the introduction of automation in the logistics market and are among the pioneers in this field. We are now focussing on Germany for the market launch in Europe, having already successfully implemented 100 million different RaaS services in Asia and North America," says Hongming Chen, CEO of GRS.
