GLP hands over Mannheim 1 logistics centre

Frankfurt, 23 May 2024 - GLP, a leading global developer, owner and operator of logistics real estate, data centres and systems for renewable energy and related technologies, has handed over a newly developed logistics property to a leading German manufacturer of commercial vehicles. The 17,500 square metre (m2) warehouse will be used for picking, packing and shipping of high-value products.

GLP acquired the property, including the previous building, a warehouse, in 2015. After the previous tenant moved out, the development was replaced by a new, state-of-the-art logistics property in 2023. Around 20,000 cubic metres of recycled material from the previous building were used in the construction process.

The new building was realised in accordance with the strict environmental protection criteria of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and the DGNB Gold standard. The property is characterised by numerous sustainability features. These include a system of energy-efficient air-to-air heat pumps and a building roof pre-equipped for the installation of a PV solar system. 15 rear unloading doors and five ground-level doors, including three doors with a canopy for loading and unloading lorries from the side, are also part of the equipment.

The Mannheim 1 logistics centre is strategically located in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. It is located in the Friedrichsfeld industrial and commercial area, around 15 minutes' drive from Mannheim city centre. Its proximity to the A656, A6 and A5 motorways ensures first-class transport connections in the heart of one of Germany's most efficient economic regions.
