The eCommerce fulfilment specialist GILOG expands to Poland

GILOG, a pfenning Group company since 2021, is expanding its logistics activities outside Germany and expanding into Poland with a long-standing existing customer business. As a result, both GILOG and pfenning are securing growth potential in Wrocław, close to the border.

GILOG, a company for innovative logistics from Frechen in North Rhine-Westphalia, is expanding into the Polish market and opening a logistics centre with an area of 10,000 m² at the SEGRO Park Wrocław, Bierutowska, in Wrocław. The expansion is intended to cover the logistics needs of an existing customer from October 2023.

As in Frechen, a 360° service will then be provided at the new location, where, in addition to all warehouse logistics and e-commerce fulfilment, value-added services such as packing, order picking, display construction, repackaging and repackaging as well as technical inspections and software updates will also be provided. Freight management rounds off the service package. GILOG was also able to convince its long-standing customer for the logistics business in Poland with a global freight and transit time concept without any time, quality or economic losses in direct comparison to the current German central location.

The future logistics location is characterised by its strategically favourable location. In addition to Wroclaw Airport and excellent connections to all CEP and general cargo networks, there are good links to the seaports of Swinoujscie (560km), Gdansk (480km) and Hamburg (650km). With a warehouse height of 10 metres UKB, the new space offers ideal conditions for both high-bay racking and other forms of storage, such as block storage, as part of the logistics facility is earmarked for further growth at the site. GILOG's long-standing authorised signatory is responsible for the new location. Christian Scharf will take over the management for Poland and will be the direct contact person for the entire project. Scharf joined GILOG six years ago and has been the second Managing Director together with company founder Frank Oelschläger since November 2022.

Scharf solves the challenges of recruiting skilled workers with the company's own personnel service provider be4work, which has both industry expertise and, in particular, knowledge of the regional conditions of the labour market. Preparations for Go Live in October 2023 are already underway.
