Successful start: Panattoni with a successful start to the year

Despite the tense overall economic situation, Panattoni, the leading project developer for industrial and logistics properties in Europe, has made a positive start to the new year. In addition to the realisation of the first project on the Austrian market and an increase in personnel of almost 10 percent in Germany and Austria, a large number of construction projects with a volume of over 615,000 m² of real estate space are scheduled for the first and second quarters. With the City Dock Mannheim and Sindelfingen, two construction starts in the area of business park development are in the starting blocks. In addition to intensive dialogue with local authorities and direct users, one focus of the realisations is on compliance with ESG sustainability criteria. Panattoni is pushing ahead with its European growth strategy by entering the Danish market.

At the opening of the international real estate trade fair MIPIM (Marché International des Professionnels de l'immobilier) on 14 March 2023 in France, Panattoni looks back on a successful start to the new year. With Panattoni Park Graz Süd in Leibnitz, the company is developing its first project in Austria since entering the market in 2022. The modern technology and business park is being built with a focus on the local economy in Styria and is setting new standards in sustainable project development and energy supply in the commercial property sector by using a biomass power plant, among other things.

Panattoni has a well-filled project pipeline on the German market with a total volume of over 615,000 m² of property space. The developer's current projects include a build-to-suit (BTS) project for the Fressnapf Group in Neuruppin, Brandenburg, a distribution centre for the family-owned company Dachser SE in Rottenburg, Baden-Württemberg, and a new logistics site for the Kühne+Nagel Group in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Panattoni is also pushing ahead with innovative business parks based on the "City Dock" concept and is currently building two of the urban business parks in Mannheim and Sindelfingen (both in Baden-Württemberg). The start of construction is imminent for both projects.

"Despite the adverse circumstances caused by the Ukraine conflict, inflation and its impact on interest rates and the energy crisis, Panattoni got off to a successful start in 2023. As the largest developer on the German and European market, we currently have a large number of projects with good customers and partners. Our team in Germany and Austria has grown by 10 per cent in recent months in order to offer our usual level of service and continue to grow despite the ongoing high level of momentum. We have big plans for the rest of the year and want to support companies and local authorities in their optimisation and growth with innovative and sustainably constructed projects," says Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner at Panattoni Germany and Austria.

As part of its business development, Panattoni focuses on compliance with ESG sustainability criteria at company level and in its real estate projects, in addition to intensive dialogue with local authorities. To this end, the company set up its own group of experts and developed, among other things, a green building concept as a blueprint for the environmentally sustainable construction of its property projects. In addition to dispensing with climate-damaging fossil fuels and the exclusive use of air-heat pumps in the future, the developer is focusing on the recycling of components using the cradle-to-cradle method and brownfield development to avoid or reduce new land sealing. Since 2022, the company has been supporting the German Brownfield Association to develop Germany's first brownfield cadastre.

Meanwhile, Panattoni is pushing ahead with its pan-European growth strategy by entering the Danish market under the leadership of Managing Director Denmark Jacob Widahl in March 2023. In Northern Europe, the developer recently established a new location in Sweden and completed the largest property transaction on the Swedish market to date. Panattoni is now represented in a total of 34 countries in Europe.
