PropertyEU: Panattoni confirms top position in Europe

For the seventh time in a row, Panattoni has been named Europe's largest industrial and logistics property developer in the PropertyEU ranking.

The industry survey ranks the leading European players according to the amount of space they have built between 2020 and 2022, and also takes into account projects currently under development and investment volume.

Panattoni, the leading project developer for industrial and logistics properties in Europe, has achieved first place in the PropertyEU ranking with a completed area of more than 8 million m² in 302 projects. This means that the developer realised more than three times as much space as the number two in the ranking during the period surveyed. Panattoni also currently has more than 4 million m² under development in 119 property projects and an investment volume of almost 5 billion euros.

The company also has a well-filled project pipeline on the German market with a total volume of over 615,000 m² of property space. Panattoni is currently realising build-to-suit (BTS) projects in Germany for the Fressnapf Group in Neuruppin, Brandenburg, for the family-owned company Dachser SE in Rottenburg, Baden-Württemberg, for the Kühne+Nagel Group in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and for the Brucker freight forwarding company in Schwäbisch Gmünd, among others. In Dettelbach, Bavaria, Panattoni recently completed new logistics centres for the fashion group S.OLIVER and for the logistics service provider Dachser SE.

Meanwhile, in Könnern, Saxony-Anhalt, the company is planning to develop a pioneering new-build project with four modern commercial spaces. The new Panattoni Park Halle (Saale) Nord will provide users with a total of 159,000 m² of usable space, spread across 17 units in four halls. Further spaces at attractive locations in Germany will be announced in the coming months.

Panattoni is also pressing ahead with urban business parks based on the "City Dock" concept and is currently building two of the business parks in Mannheim and Sindelfingen (both in Baden-Württemberg). The start of construction is imminent for both projects. With innovative campus projects in Hanover, the capital of Lower Saxony, and in Berlin, the developer is also creating solutions to the urban space shortage and combining the concepts of Panattoni Parks and City Docks at outstanding locations.

At transport logistic, the international trade fair for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management, which will take place from 9 to 12 May 2023 at Messe München, the developer will welcome its partners and customers with eight national branches. The countries represented by Panattoni are Denmark, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Sweden, Poland, the Netherlands, Austria and Germany. The aim is to discuss current business developments and find solutions for the pressing sustainability requirements over the four days of the trade fair. With 2,300 exhibitors from 67 countries, the leading trade fair is at an almost pre-corona level and is more international than ever before in terms of exhibitors.

"As the largest developer on the German and European market, we currently have a large number of projects with exciting customers and partners at attractive locations. We are looking forward to the discussions at transport logistic, which will once again take place in the same format. We have ambitious plans and want to support companies in their optimisation and growth with innovative and sustainable projects. It is also very important to us to present the further path to climate neutrality," says Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner at Panattoni Germany and Austria.

With its green building concept and a specially established group of experts focussing on the implementation of ESG sustainability criteria at company level and in individual property projects, Panattoni is taking concrete steps to achieve holistic sustainability within the company. The developer has decided to completely dispense with climate-damaging fossil fuels and only use air-heat pumps in future, to protect water resources even better and to promote the recycling of demolition materials. Since 2022, the company has been supporting the German Brownfield Association in the development of Germany's first brownfield register and has provided an advisory board representative since March 2023.
