Prologis delivers modernised property for Dealer Tire's first European distribution centre in Gernsheim

Prologis and Dealer Tire today jointly celebrated the opening of a modernised 15,409 square metre logistics property in Gernsheim. The project represents a significant contribution to the economy of the Rhine-Main region as it provides Dealer Tire with space to handle and grow its business and create local jobs.

Dealer Tire Europe GmbH, a service partner for car manufacturers and their dealer networks, has signed a long-term lease for the logistics space.

Entry into the European market

Over the past few months, Prologis has modernised the property and tailored it to the needs of Dealer Tire, a long-standing customer in the USA. The modernisation measures include switching to energy-efficient LED lighting and upgrading the roof to make it solar-ready.

Expansion under construction

Prologis has also started construction on a 9,910 square metre extension to the Dealer Tire facility. The expansion is expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year. Prologis has been recognised as a leader in the development of sustainable buildings for many years and is also aiming for DGNB Gold certification for the new facility. A heat pump, for example, will supply the new extension with energy, enabling a potential switch to completely green energy for the building.

Solutions beyond the four walls

To support business operations, Dealer Tire will utilise Prologis Essentials services and products, including forklift trucks and charging infrastructure, access control and alarm systems, and office equipment. The outdoor areas will also be equipped with charging stations for electric cars and bicycles. Prologis Essentials offers comprehensive supply chain solutions from a single source, including services in the areas of operations, energy and sustainability and mobility.
