Prologis celebrates topping-out ceremony in Berlin Tegel

On 16 May, Prologis celebrated the topping-out ceremony for its logistics property in Berlin Tegel. The innovative and sustainable property will comprise around 8,500 square metres of high-quality logistics and office space, which can be divided into two units. Representatives from business and politics attended the event.

Prologis acquired the property on Wittestrasse in 2021. It was a brownfield site previously occupied by an iron foundry, which the previous owner had demolished. Prologis Park Berlin DC4 is characterised by its sustainability in many respects. The property is based on the BEG 40 guidelines for energy-efficient buildings and is designed as an "all-electric building". No fossil fuels are used for the energy supply. The building is supplied with electricity via a photovoltaic system on the roof and heated by an air-heat pump. In addition, Prologis will equip all car parks with electric charging stations, including two fast-charging stations for lorries. The green façade of the property will not only increase biodiversity, but also promote the well-being of the tenants.

"I am delighted that our project in Berlin Tegel is taking shape and that we are now making the space usable again," says Philipp Feige, Vice President, Head of Capital Deployment at Prologis. "Following our entry into the Berlin market with the acquisition of a property portfolio in 2021, this is our first self-developed logistics facility in the capital."

The site's location in Berlin Tegel offers optimal access to the Berlin ring road thanks to its proximity to the 111 motorway, while future employees will also benefit from its proximity to the Eichborndamm S-Bahn station, which is just one kilometre away. "Our team is currently in talks with potential tenants and we are confident that we will be able to let the property in the near future," says Vincent Lampe, Manager, Capital Deployment at Prologis. Prologis also donated 10,000 euros to the hospice and palliative care organisation Katharinenhaus Reinickendorf e.V. as part of the topping-out ceremony. "As a global company, we not only have a corporate responsibility, but also a social responsibility," adds Vincent Lampe. "We see ourselves as part of the communities in which we operate and want to get involved, take responsibility and support the people here in the long term."
