Panattoni Park Freiburg South: Ceremonial handover to HORNBACH

Panattoni, the leading project developer for industrial and logistics properties in Europe, celebrated the handover of the new Panattoni Park Freiburg Süd together with HORNBACH Baumarkt AG on 24 February 2023. The mayor of Neuenburg am Rhein, Baden-Württemberg, as well as representatives of HORNBACH, Panattoni and other project participants were present at the celebrations in Neuenburg am Rhein.

HORNBACH Baumarkt AG, based in Bornheim near Landau in der Pfalz, is a family-run company and is one of the largest operators of DIY and garden centres in Europe. In Neuenburg am Rhein, the well-known DIY store company now has around 13,900 m² of usable space at its disposal. Of this, around 12,100 m² is hall space, 1,000 m² is office and social space and 800 m² is mezzanine space. The outdoor areas at Panattoni Park Freiburg Süd offer space for 46 cars and 3 lorries. HORNBACH plans to use the new location as a fulfilment and regional warehouse in future.

"The new location in Neuenburg am Rhein will enable us to expand our logistics network in the best possible way. We are looking forward to officially opening the site on 13 March 2023 with the delivery of the first goods for the fulfilment warehouse," explains Marc Heider, Head of the Neuenburg logistics centre at HORNBACH Baumarkt AG.

Panattoni developed the property on the approximately 23,800 m² site of a former hazardous materials warehouse in the Neuenburg industrial estate. Located directly on the French border, in the border triangle of Germany, France and Switzerland, Panattoni Park Freiburg Süd has excellent connections to the A5 motorway and the B378 main road.

As part of the project development, Panattoni not only carried out extensive demolition work, but also implemented a large number of sustainability measures. In addition to the installation of a WGK III film (water hazard class) and preparatory measures for the installation of a photovoltaic system, modern VRF heat pump technology was installed, which enables the heating and cooling of the office area. This enabled the new property to be certified to the DGNB gold standard.
