Panattoni celebrates topping-out ceremony at Germany's largest Panattoni Park
Panattoni, the leading project developer for industrial and logistics properties in Europe, celebrated the completion of Halls 4 and 5 at Panattoni Park Berlin South on 24 January 2023 together with the future users Mounting Systems and DHL. The celebrations at the site in Rangsdorf, Brandenburg, were attended by 50 invited guests, including representatives of the municipality of Rangsdorf, the tenants, the general contractor Goldbeck and other project participants.

The topping-out ceremony marks the completion of the final construction phase of the largest Panattoni Park ever built in Germany. The property comprises five halls with a total usable area of 130,000 m² on a site area of 28 ha, divided into 13 units, each with a hall height of 12 m UKB. The new space will be occupied by the German manufacturer of photovoltaic mounting systems Mounting Systems GmbH and DHL Supply Chain, the division of Deutsche Post DHL Group specialising in contract logistics. This means that Panattoni Park Berlin South is now fully let.
"The solar energy sector of the future is unstoppable and is increasing the demand for our substructures. With the completed space at Panattoni Park Berlin Süd, we are able to push ahead with the expansion of our existing site in Rangsdorf so that we can soon deliver more goods to our customers and partners in less time," says Marcel Merten, Managing Director at Mounting Systems.
Andreas Czekalla, Commercial Manager at Deutsche Post DHL Real Estate Deutschland GmbH, explains: "To enable our customers to operate successfully in an increasingly global market environment, we support them with innovative logistics solutions and a presence in more than 55 countries and regions. This presence will be further expanded by moving into Panattoni Park Berlin Süd. We would like to thank the developer for the space provided in an economically outstanding region. Renting additional space over a long-term period is an important component of our growth strategy in the Berlin area. The additional capacity we have gained gives us the opportunity to offer our innovative and sustainable warehousing and transport solutions to other customers in this strategically important region."
In addition to Mounting Systems and DHL Supply Chain, the six tenants at Panattoni Park Berlin Süd include Hive Logistics GmbH as a provider of logistics services and warehouse software for online retailers, the international provider of global logistics and transport solutions GEFCO Deutschland GmbH, Schnellecke Logistics and a dynamically growing e-commerce service provider. The park boasts an outstanding location on the outskirts of Berlin, in the immediate vicinity of the B96 federal road and the A10 motorway ring road to the south of Berlin. It also offers quick access to the A2, A9 and A24 motorways. Berlin-Schönefeld Airport can also be reached in just 18 minutes by car.
"The development of the largest Panattoni Park in Germany is a strong sign of the attractiveness of the economic region from Teltow/Ludwigsfelde to Fürstenwalde south of Berlin in Brandenburg. We are delighted that Panattoni's project offers six companies the opportunity to settle in our region. This is a further step towards the financial independence of the municipality of Rangsdorf, employment will be secured and the financial allocations to Rangsdorf from the state of Brandenburg will be reduced in future," explains Klaus Rocher, Mayor of the municipality of Rangsdorf.
Panattoni began developing the DGNB Gold-certified project around 4.5 years ago. Since then, the developer has continuously liaised closely with the owner and also assisted in obtaining planning permission. Intensive cooperation with the municipality of Rangsdorf was at the centre of the project. Over the course of the development, Panattoni not only faced various challenges, such as carrying out archaeological excavations, but also implemented extensive infrastructure, traffic, environmental and species protection measures on site. These included, in particular, the renaturalisation of parks and the redesign of a 3,000 m² estate park close to the local primary school. In addition, a species of lizard was relocated and lark windows were installed. The developer also supported the expansion of the local industrial estate by upgrading the B96 motorway junction. This enabled the local authority to further strengthen the economic power of the region at the intersection of the east-west axis Ruhr - Hanover - Berlin - Poland - Baltic States and the north-south axis Adriatic - Vienna/Prague - Berlin - Scandinavia.
Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner at Panattoni Germany and Austria, comments on the completion as follows: "We at Panattoni are pleased to have reached one of the final milestones in the completion of this complex project development with the topping-out ceremony for the last halls after a development period of 4.5 years. We wish all six tenants a rapid realisation of their processes in the new premises and very much hope that they will feel at home in Panattoni Park Berlin Süd."
