Noerpel Group integrates WEHNER Logistics

  • WEHNER is a specialist in e-commerce fulfilment
  • Noerpel Group strengthens portfolio and expands presence in the Rhineland
  • Performance to be scaled sustainably together

The Noerpel Group continues to grow: with effect from 1 September, the logistics company headquartered in Ulm has acquired WEHNER Logistics GmbH & Co KG from Leverkusen. As a highly specialised company within the Noerpel Group, WEHNER Logistics will build up the e-commerce fulfilment division.

WEHNER Logistics was founded by Mark Wehner 15 years ago. His brother Jan Wehner joined the company a year later and is still responsible for operations and the IT department. WEHNER specialises in customised e-commerce fulfilment solutions, from warehousing solutions to dispatch handling and after-sales management. In 15 years, the company has grown continuously and has built up a resilient infrastructure and innovative services.

The company currently operates around 13,500 square metres of warehouse space in Leverkusen and Langenfeld (NRW), has 25,500 storage spaces (pallets and shelves) and handles around 600,000 packages per year.

"We have been planning to strengthen our position in this segment for some time," explains Lucas Noerpel-Schneider, Managing Director of the Noerpel Group. "WEHNER's services are a perfect building block for our comprehensive range of services. We are delighted that we will be able to support our customers even more in the area of e-commerce fulfilment in the future."

Scaling performance

WEHNER's expertise will remain fully intact: The service area will be managed as a separate division under the leadership of the two brothers, who have been engaged as managing directors on a long-term basis. With the transaction, Noerpel is also taking over all 40 employees at the two sites in Leverkusen and Langenfeld.

"After 15 years of development and growth, we are very happy to have found a strong partner in Noerpel with whom we can sustainably scale and expand our services," explains Mark Wehner, Managing Director. "We are offering Noerpel a portfolio expansion; our customers benefit from the Noerpel Group's comprehensive logistics infrastructure."

Sustainable growth

The aim is to roll out the services of WEHNER Logistics across Germany for all Noerpel locations and to dynamically drive forward the e-commerce fulfilment sector. At the same time, the integration strengthens the Noerpel Group's presence in the Rhineland, where it now has three locations.

The companies complement each other not only in terms of their portfolios. Sustainable action and a gradual reduction in emissions are a key element of the corporate strategy at both companies.
