LGI opens second location in Erfurt

LGI Logistics Group International has opened a second location with 9,500 m² for the Electronics & Healthcare division in Erfurt. It will provide high-quality logistics services for the ZEISS medical technology division.

LGI Logistics Group International officially celebrated the launch of another location in Erfurt on 24 January 2024 with representatives of its customer ZEISS. The customer's production site will be supplied from there. The services include the receipt of goods, including a 100% quantity check and additional quality controls. LGI also handles customs clearance for shipments from third countries. A special ESD workstation has been set up to handle sensitive items. The items are picked according to the KANBAN method and prepared in plastic containers. A shuttle service is used several times a day to supply production on time.

In addition to the 60,000 m² at the Erfurt 1 site, which handles electrical consumer goods, the second LGI site in Thuringia is now in full operation in the immediate vicinity. Like the LGI logistics centres in Ketsch (near Mannheim), Hamburg and Dordrecht in the Netherlands, the new logistics location in Erfurt specialises in medical technology, an area in which LGI has particular expertise. In addition to pure contract logistics with extensive value-added services, the specialists provide technical logistics services throughout Europe, in which technical equipment is transported to the place of use, installed and users are instructed using two-man handling.
