Krage & Gerloff takes over Magdeburg site from Ritter Logistik

Schwanebeck / Magdeburg, 18 March 2024: Krage & Gerloff Logistik GmbH, headquartered in Schwanebeck (Saxony-Anhalt), is taking over the Magdeburg site from Ritter Logistik GmbH, headquartered in Hanover, with immediate effect. Krage & Gerloff is focussing on further growth in the region and is expanding its market position in Saxony-Anhalt with this transaction. The partners signed the contracts on 15 March 2024. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

Ritter Logistik, which employs around 200 people in its group of companies, built the new site in Magdeburg in 2001. Around 45 specialists offer customers general cargo services, part and full load transport with its own fleet of vehicles, air and sea freight, warehousing and project logistics on 2,500 square metres of handling space, generating a turnover of around seven million euros in 2023.

Trusting cooperation

The logistics companies Krage & Gerloff and Ritter Logistik have known and valued each other for many years. "Krage & Gerloff is therefore the ideal partner for us to continue operating our site in Magdeburg and capitalise on further growth in the region," says Andreas Ritter, who runs the company together with his brother Thomas Ritter. "In future, we will concentrate on our core region of Hanover, where we operate two further locations in addition to our headquarters in Langenhagen," adds Thomas Ritter. "It is important to us that our employees continue to be led into a successful future."

Aiming for further growth

Krage & Gerloff wants to grow further in Saxony-Anhalt. Several major projects are currently being realised in the region, in which Sebastian Gerloff, Managing Partner of Krage & Gerloff, sees great potential. "Intel wants to locate in Magdeburg and is investing 30 billion euros in a production complex for computer chips. And close to our Schwanebeck site, Daimler Truck is building the Global Parts Centre in Halberstadt for the worldwide supply of spare parts for Mercedes-Benz trucks. The demand for logistics services will increase. I am sure that we will benefit from this development with our high level of logistics expertise and will continue to grow at both locations in Saxony-Anhalt."

Branch manager remains Till Beier

Krage & Gerloff recognises the strength of the Magdeburg team and is taking on all 45 employees as part of the transaction. Branch manager Till Beier will continue to manage the site operationally, ensuring continuity and stability. Andreas Ritter will remain in an advisory capacity until the end of 2024. The new Managing Director is Sebastian Gerloff.

"We are looking forward to welcoming the employees at the Magdeburg location and hope that they will quickly feel at home with us," says Sebastian Gerloff. "The prerequisites for this are in place: Our companies have a similar service portfolio and a familiar corporate culture. And: We in Saxony-Anhalt feel very close to our region. Together, we will be able to respond even more flexibly to our customers' needs in future and win new projects."

Krage & Gerloff

The Krage & Gerloff joint venture was established in 1995 between the Krage family from Hanover and the Gerloff family from Schwanebeck. Today, Mathias Krage and Sebastian Gerloff are the managing partners. As an innovative logistics service provider with 350 employees, the company generates an annual turnover of around 45 million euros at its Schwanebeck site. With its own fleet of 150 trucks and 70 company vehicles, it provides services such as general cargo forwarding, part and full load transport and offers contract logistics solutions on around 60,000 square metres of heated warehouse space. The company also specialises in logistics solutions for white goods, factory distribution services and branch logistics for the precise supply of goods to retail outlets.
