GLP completes new, sustainable logistics centre in Grimma near Leipzig

Frankfurt, 19 June 2024 - GLP, a leading global developer, owner and operator of logistics real estate, digital infrastructure and systems for renewable energy and related technologies, has completed the development of a new, state-of-the-art logistics property in Grimma near Leipzig. The approximately 25,000 square metre (m2) property consists of two building units of roughly equal size.

"With the completion of our logistics centre in Leipzig (Grimma), we are once again delivering on our promise to offer our customers state-of-the-art sites in strategic locations despite an acute shortage of space. The new logistics property is characterised both by its high level of sustainability and its first-class transport connections. Therefore, new tenants can reduce their carbon footprint and lower their operational costs while benefiting from the advantages of the attractive location," says Vincent Flottau, Senior Business Development Manager, GLP.

Like all of GLP's new developments in the German market, the property in Grimma was built in accordance with the strict environmental protection criteria of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and the DGNB Gold standard.

During planning and development, GLP focussed on the sustainability of the property, with certified, recyclable new building materials being used in the construction.

The buildings are characterised by selected technologies aimed at increasing energy efficiency. The property is heated by a sustainable heating system with energy-efficient air-to-air heat pumps. Skylights in the mezzanine area and the extensive glazing of the offices reduce the need for artificial lighting and contribute to the well-being of the employees. The LED lighting also saves energy.

Water-saving fittings reduce drinking water consumption and rainwater is collected on the building's roof for use in the sanitary facilities.

As with all new developments from GLP, the roof of the building has been pre-equipped for the installation of a PV solar system. The property also offers a number of e-charging stations for electric vehicles and e-bikes.

The location in the Leipzig area, a key economic region, offers good transport links via the A14 motorway, the GVZ (Freight Village) Leipzig for road/rail transhipment and Leipzig-Halle Airport, which is one of the five largest hubs for air freight in Europe.
