Geis Group grows by 14.5 per cent in 2022
Bad Neustadt / Nuremberg, 28 March 2023 - A successful financial year: the Geis Group closed 2022 with a new sales record: The internationally active logistics service provider achieved net sales of 1.335 billion euros in 2022. This corresponds to an increase of 14.5 per cent1 compared to 2021. In total, the Geis Group employs around 6,600 people at 125 locations in seven European countries.

"Thanks to the extraordinary commitment of our employees, we were able to achieve healthy growth in all business areas in 2022," explain Managing Partners Hans-Georg Geis and Wolfgang Geis. "However, 2022 was also characterised by enormous cost pressure, particularly in terms of personnel and energy, which made intensive discussions with customers necessary. Despite the weakening economy, we do not currently see any lasting easing on the cost side."
Road Services: Successful network expansion continues
Developments in the Road Services business division were consistently positive - Geis recorded a significant increase in turnover of 15.3 per cent with its overland transport activities. Particularly noteworthy is the completion of the network expansion in Poland in 2022. Geis has been offering its customers a comprehensive service here for years and has now completely refined, modernised and set up the network with a focus on growth, resulting in very good development in 2022. Geis' road network now comprises a total of 51 locations in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Switzerland. Geis continued to optimise the quality of its services in 2022 and is one of the quality leaders in its markets. For the current financial year, Geis will continue to focus on expanding its European general cargo network.
Logistics Services: Growth despite challenges
The Logistics Services division, under which the Geis Group bundles its contract logistics solutions, also achieved good growth with a 16.3 per cent increase in turnover. However, Geis also felt the effects of the current challenges in the contract logistics sector. For example, sudden cost increases can only be passed on with a delay due to the fixed contracts. In 2022, Geis was once again able to counter the general shortage of staff well - thanks to attractive conditions and good promotion and development opportunities for employees. Geis is also aiming for further growth in logistics in the future and is therefore currently acquiring suitable properties.
Air + Sea Services: very pleasing development
Geis also performed well across the Group in the handling of global air and sea freight and the project business. The entire Air + Sea Services division performed well in difficult market phases - sales increased by 9.7 per cent. The project business was also driven forward. The Geis Group's network coverage across several countries in Central Europe proved to be a decisive advantage. This enabled Geis to organise aid deliveries to Ukraine for several customers. The Geis Group is currently homogenising the processes and IT of all Air + Sea locations by the middle of this year. Despite the positive development in 2022, the Geis Group expects a decline in sales for the current year against the backdrop of the significant decline in rates since the fourth quarter of 2022.
MissionZero - on the road to climate neutrality
The Geis Group set a milestone on its roadmap to sustainable transformation in 2022 with the launch of the MissionZero programme. The aim is to make the company climate-neutral by 2040. The Geis Group aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 65 per cent by 2030 and has launched a large number of ecological projects in 2022: from the start of construction for a sustainable handling terminal to the conversion of all sites to green electricity and the planning of photovoltaic systems.
Massive investments planned
In the current financial year, the Geis Group intends to further intensify its sustainability strategy, expand its network by investing in land and buildings and optimise processes with innovative solutions. These include IT systems for yard management, route planning and surveying technology as well as innovative technologies such as smart glasses for order picking, driverless transport systems and automated warehouses. "With massive investments in sustainability, IT and innovation as well as our network, we are creating the ideal conditions for future growth," say Hans-Wolfgang Geis and Jochen Geis, Managing Partners. "We want to make greater use of development opportunities, especially in Eastern Europe."
