Fiege inaugurates new logistics centre in Bülach
The logistics service provider Fiege is investing in its location in Bülach. An additional multi-user centre for customers from the e-commerce, fashion, FMCG and industrial sectors has been built in the immediate vicinity of Zurich Airport. Around 70 guests were invited to the opening ceremony last Friday, including Zurich government councillor Carmen Walker Späh.
Bülach/Greven, 2 September 2024 - Space for growth: contract logistics expert Fiege has completed its new logistics centre in Bülach. A good 17,000 square metres of additional logistics space has been created on two floors adjacent to the existing site north of Zurich. The logistics centre was officially inaugurated at a small opening ceremony last Friday.
Carmen Walker Späh, Head of the Department of Economic Affairs of the Canton of Zurich, was among the speakers: "The Canton of Zurich is Switzerland's economic engine. Long-term investments by innovative companies like Fiege are of crucial importance in order to stay ahead in the international competition between locations. Logistics is not only an essential part of our lives, but also a supporting pillar of our economy and our prosperity. Therefore, I am very pleased about Fiege's clear commitment to the Bülach location and congratulate the entire team on the inauguration."
The new Fiege property was built according to high energy standards and fulfils the gold status of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). Among other things, the modern logistics centre has demand-controlled LED lighting and an energy-efficient air heat pump. Vinko Castrogiovanni, Managing Director of Fiege's Southern Europe & Alps business unit, explained: "We have been at home in Bülach for many years and feel very much at home here. The new building will enable us to fulfil the various requirements of our customers in an even more targeted manner - and ensure maximum flexibility and long-term growth prospects for them thanks to a wide range of automation options. Special thanks go to the Canton of Zurich and the municipality of Bülach for allowing us to expand our site here and celebrate this important milestone for Fiege Switzerland today."
Jens Fiege, Co-CEO of the Fiege Group, who runs the more than 150-year-old family business together with his cousin Felix Fiege in the fifth generation, said: "For us as a logistics service provider, it is essential to be present where our customers want to be successful. In Switzerland, we have been able to count on trusting partnerships with companies from many different sectors for more than 25 years. And we are delighted to be opening a second multi-user centre here in Bülach, which will enable us to provide our customers with even better support in their strategic development."
