Expansion of capacities: DB Schenker moves into new Shared Logistics Centre at the Radeberg site
- DB Schenker responds to increasing customer demand
- New Shared Logistics Centre with 21,000 square metres
- Focus on sustainability
(Frankfurt am Main / Dresden, 19.01.2023) On 1 January 2023, the logistics service provider moved into a new Shared Logistics Center in Radeberg with 21,000 m² and around 28,000 rack spaces, thus expanding its logistics capacities in the Dresden area to 80,000 m².
"We have been operating our logistics centre in Radeberg for exactly 10 years. Until recently on around 5,000 square metres. With the new, significantly larger and technically optimally equipped hall, we are positioning ourselves even better and complementing our already strong regional presence. In view of the significant growth in business with existing customers and good growth prospects, this investment is exactly the right step for our strategic development," says Nino Walter, Head of Logistics at DB Schenker in Dresden.
The new Shared Logistics Centre Radeberg will also expand capacities in the important solar logistics sector, both quantitatively and qualitatively. This is being done primarily in co-operation with the long-standing customer Solarwatt.
Complete logistics programme for the greater Dresden area
The Radeberg site is conveniently located close to the A4 motorway and thus offers an efficient and reliable interface to DB Schenker's efficient overland transport network throughout Germany and Europe.
Overall, DB Schenker is well represented in the Dresden economic region with more than 450 employees at locations in Radeberg, Radeburg, Ottendorf-Okrilla, Zeithain and Dresden. The full range of logistics products is offered at these locations: Land transport, air and sea freight, trade fairs/special transport and global supply chain management.
Sustainably efficient
A completely new vehicle fleet and state-of-the-art technical equipment form the basis for effective logistics processes and also create excellent conditions for employees. Great importance was attached to sustainability when building the new Shared Logistics Centre Radeberg. The new hall is DGNB Gold certified and equipped with economical LED lighting. With charging points for electric vehicles, the site supports the increasingly important expansion of logistics e-mobility.
The design of the infrastructure and social areas for employees is particularly socially sustainable.
