Bucking the trend: Ebeling Logistik builds 8th hall in Wedemark

Wedemark, 10.09.2024: While many construction projects in Germany are currently being halted or postponed, Georg Ebeling Spedition GmbH from Wedemark continues to focus on expansion. The company is now building its eighth hall within walking distance of the company premises. By the end of the year, a further 25,000 pallet spaces should be created on 11,000 square metres with a height of 15 metres.

the new hall will cost 14 million euros. The reasons for the high costs include the development costs for the site, the immense bureaucratic effort and delays caused by the authorities.

The hall is being built by the Max Bögl Group as general contractor. They have already realised three halls for Ebeling. Naturally, the hall will be equipped with everything that makes a modern warehouse. From its own PV system on the roof to a heat pump for hybrid heating and state-of-the-art IT equipment, everything has been thought of. An acid-resistant floor for the storage of hazardous materials according to WGK 1-3 is just as much a matter of course as flexible storage equipment.

"In the northern region of Hanover, directly at the A7/A2 motorway junction, we are regarded as Hamburg's port hinterland," says owner Georg Ebeling, explaining the current expansion. "At the latest when all the warehouses in Hamburg are full, we will come into play thanks to our favourable location directly on the motorway."

The warehouse will be ready for occupancy in spring 2025. "This will increase our storage capacity to 56,000 square metres and we will be able to provide almost 150,000 pallet spaces on our own company premises," say the Managing Director trio of Stefan Gulbins, Oliver Kilian and Hendrik Ebeling. Together with other external warehouses, Ebeling thus offers over 100,000 square metres of storage space for every need. "Ebeling has always been anti-cyclical. So far, our courage has always been rewarded," says Stefan Gulbins confidently.

The family-owned company's team comprises 450 employees from 40 nations, the fleet includes 160 vehicles, which are used to deliver to over 1,000 customers throughout Europe on time, 24/48 hours a day. Ebeling can look back on 97 years of company history and has mastered many challenges along the way.
