BLG LOGISTICS wins special award of the German mobility industry for the sustainable logistics centre "C3 Bremen"

Bremen, 3 November 2023 - On 13 November 2023, the seaport and logistics service provider BLG LOGISTICS will receive the special "Energy Efficiency" award from the German mobility industry for the sustainable logistics centre "C3 Bremen" in Frankfurt's Paulskirche.

With this special award, the German Transport Science Association (DVWG) honours successful projects and solutions that significantly reduce energy consumption and climate-relevant emissions in the transport sector in a measurable and verifiable way." We are delighted that our flagship project, the C3 Bremen, has been honoured with this award this year," explains Matthias Magnor, Member of the Board of Management and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the BLG Group.

The "C3 Bremen" is the sustainable logistics centre with which BLG is setting new standards in terms of sustainability and equipment for logistics properties. The abbreviation that gives the C3 its name stands for the initials of the English terms Customer, Climate and Comfort - customer requirements, sustainability and employee needs, all of which were at the centre of the development of the overall concept for the property. In addition to a holistic energy concept for heating, hot water and ventilation as well as comprehensive building insulation and intelligent lighting control, the building's own energy generation capacity is also a key factor.

C3 Bremen: Lighthouse project for green logistics

"With growing freight transport, the sustainable design of supply chains is more important than ever. This also applies to property, which accounts for a particularly high proportion of CO2 emissions in logistics. In order to achieve climate targets, the space used by logistics centres must be used as efficiently as possible," says jury member Prof. Dr Claudia Kemfert, explaining the decision. "As a flagship project for green logistics, C3 Bremen is significantly more innovative, holistic and sustainable in this respect. It comprises a wide range of components, from a large-scale photovoltaic system to various energy efficiency measures for the building envelope and green spaces. This convinced the jury."

The award ceremony will take place as part of the German Mobility Congress, which the DVWG is organising for the ninth time together with the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund and Messe Frankfurt GmbH.
