Dachser relies on LED systems - TRILUX equips logistics centres with digital light
For more than 80 years, the name Dachser has stood for "Intelligent Logistics" worldwide. The declared aim has always been to measurably increase the competitiveness of customers with holistic and innovative transport solutions. Efficiency-orientated thinking and action therefore play an important role at Dachser. It was therefore only logical for the logistics professionals to discover the wide-ranging benefits of LED lighting for themselves. A logistics centre in Berlin-Schönefeld was selected as a pilot project, which TRILUX - SIMPLIFY YOUR LIGHT equipped with LED strip lighting. The systems wind their way through the hall for one kilometre.

For more than 80 years, Dachser's declared aim has been to offer holistic and innovative transport solutions.
"We have been looking at LED lighting solutions for some time," reveals Georg Ponradl, responsible for Europe-wide specialist planning in the field of electrical engineering at Dachser. But it was only when the systems met the company's requirements for significantly reduced energy and maintenance costs while maintaining the same lighting quality that they decided in favour of the new technology. As a result, TRILUX received the order to equip the transshipment warehouse for chilled food in Schönefeld with around 520 modern LED luminaires (predominantly Coriflex).
Compared to a conventional lighting system with 2 x 58 watts, the digital light from TRILUX is around 50 per cent more energy efficient. Other advantages at the site include low operating costs due to lower maintenance costs and a balanced lighting quality. It was particularly important to Dachser that, in view of the low ambient temperatures, there was no loss of light and that the lighting level did not suffer as a result. To put it simply: cold tends to have a favourable effect on LED systems, whereas conventional systems have problems with this.

Work at the Dachser logistics centre is carried out in two and a half shifts. Operations are only suspended from 10 pm to 3 am. "Any intervention in production - no matter how small - is always a problem for logistics specialists," says Georg Ponradl. Dachser therefore welcomes anything that helps to avoid disruption. This also applies to the TRILUX lighting, which functions smoothly for at least 50,000 operating hours.
Maintenance work, which takes time and therefore causes costs, can be avoided in this way. No light source changes, no disruption to handling operations, is the simple formula. "We are counting on the fact that we won't have to worry about the light for the next ten years," says Ponradl. Initial experience would confirm these assumptions. "After one year of operation, we can say: We are completely satisfied with the new system."

The family-run company chose the Coriflex continuous-row lighting system from TRILUX for the lighting of the new transshipment hall in Berlin-Schönefeld.
However, the electrical planner still sees "room for improvement" in one area: "The investment costs, i.e. the price per light point, should continue to fall." This would accelerate the triumph of LED lighting. Dachser is already convinced that it has taken the right path with LED technology. TRILUX has already equipped two other branches in Überherrn in Saarland and Langenau with new lighting solutions. Dachser is currently considering retrofitting further logistics facilities throughout Europe in the medium term. At Dachser, the future therefore belongs to digital light.
The TRILUX Group operates nine production sites in Europe and Asia as well as 26 subsidiaries worldwide.
