Nagel-Group further expands capacities in Poland - New logistics centre in Gdansk
Gdansk, 05.05.2025. Nagel-Group is continuing to invest in the future and is building a state-of-the-art logistics centre in Gdansk, Poland, together with project developer LemonTree. A tailor-made location for temperature-controlled food logistics is being built on an area of around 21,000 square metres. Completion is planned for the first half of 2026.
‘With the new building in Gdansk, we are specifically strengthening our presence in the Polish market and creating the infrastructural conditions to be able to serve our customers flexibly, sustainably and efficiently in the future,’ says Carsten Taucke, CEO of Nagel-Group.
State-of-the-art technology for refrigerated logistics
The new logistics centre is precisely tailored to the requirements of temperature-controlled food logistics. The warehouse will have areas for ambient and ultra-fresh products as well as a large transshipment warehouse. The various zones will be equipped with modern cooling systems based on glycol-ammonia technology. The building has been designed in such a way that it is structurally prepared for the further development of Nagel-Group's services - not only in terms of goods handling, but also for the handling of frozen goods. The building structure allows for additional cold storage chambers to be added at a later date without having to interfere with the existing structure.
‘Our customers expect the highest quality and reliability from us, especially when it comes to sensitive, temperature-controlled products. We are meeting these requirements with the new site,’ says Robert Katafiasz, Managing Director of Nagel-Group in Poland.
Modern fire protection systems ensure the highest safety standards. A generous glass façade creates bright office space, while a separate co-packing zone on a mezzanine level in the ultra-fresh area offers additional capacity for value-added services.
Focus on sustainability and energy efficiency
The new site is being planned and realised with sustainability in mind. The office and storage areas are heated by heat pumps, and waste heat from the cooling processes is also utilised. In the winter months, when heat recovery is not sufficient, additional heat pumps ensure effective energy management. A photovoltaic system with a capacity of 1.5 MWp on the roof supports the building's own power supply. Rainwater is used to maintain the green areas and to clean the trailers.
Strong partnership with LemonTree
With the COOL BTS Gdańsk project, Nagel-Group is continuing its successful collaboration with LemonTree. Depenbrock Polska was commissioned as the general contractor. ‘We value LemonTree as a reliable and solution-oriented partner who understands our requirements and translates them into sustainable, future-oriented properties,’ emphasises André Pleines, Executive Director Real Estate at Nagel-Group.
‘Nagel-Group's decision to entrust LemonTree with another project confirms our expertise in developing customised solutions for the specific operational requirements of our clients. The COOL BTS Gdańsk by LemonTree project is the next step in our collaboration and enables the use of advanced technologies to support Nagel-Group's logistics activities. We are convinced that the building will perfectly meet the customer's needs and the changing requirements of the logistics industry,’ emphasises Maciej Krawiecki, COO and Head of Development and Leasing at LemonTree.
