Eschweiler: BGO and PRODAC complete new European headquarters for Barnet Europe

Cologne/Eschweiler (30 September 2026) – With the timely completion of Barnet Europe's new European headquarters, the groundbreaking built-to-suit project in Eschweiler has been successfully completed – around eleven months after the groundbreaking ceremony. The project was implemented in close cooperation with Barnet Europe as the user, Goldbeck as general contractor, BGO as investor and owner, PRODAC as project developer and Modevconsult in technical project management.

PRODAC, European headquarters of Barnet Europe in Eschweiler with office, production and storage space.

A state-of-the-art company location with a total of around 23,000 m² of office, production and storage space was created on the approximately 41,400 m² site. The new building comprises two hall buildings and a two-storey office extension in front of it and will in future combine Barnet Europe's activities, which were previously spread over several locations, under one roof. The internationally active production, recycling and trading company is thus creating the basis for further growth and more efficient cooperation between its business units.

The property was tailored precisely to Barnet Europe's requirements. Around 19,400 m² of logistics space, around 1,800 m² of office and social space and an additional warehouse mezzanine area of around 1,700 m² were realised. A clear hall height of 10 m and a total of 73 car parking spaces complete the utilisation concept.

Bernd Lenzen, Managing Director of Barnet Europe, said: "The decision to relocate our location to Eschweiler is a strategic step to further expand the economic strength of Barnet Europe. We are proud to be a company with a global reach and are pleased to make a valuable contribution to the economic development of the region through this new location. This move affects both our location in Aachen and the company Prefil in Raeren. We are merging both locations in order to be even more effective and to bundle our competencies in one place. Eschweiler offers us ideal conditions for further growth and innovation."

Jürgen Diehl, BGO, said: "We are pleased with the successful completion of the project and wish Barnet Europe every success at the new company location. The new European headquarters combines functional production areas with a clearly structured, architecturally appealing administrative area. Projects like this underline our claim to develop modern real estate in established locations together with strong partners."

Lars Zimmermann, Managing Director of PRODAC, added: "The completion of the project on schedule shows what is possible through cooperative partnership and clear goal orientation. Special thanks go to the city of Eschweiler, the team of Barnet Europe, Goldbeck and our technical partner Modevconsult."

Patrick Nowicki, Mayor of the City of Eschweiler, said: "With the successful completion and handover of the new hall complex for Barnet Europe on Graf-Zeppelin-Straße, an important milestone has been reached for Eschweiler as a business location. The project is an example of modern, sustainable industrial development

and shows how attractive our city is for international companies. The settlement strengthens the ongoing structural change in the Rhenish mining area, creates jobs and provides important impetus for the economic future of our region. My special thanks go to all those involved in the project for the professional and trusting cooperation."

Particular attention was paid to sustainable and future-proof construction. The hall complex was built according to the demanding criteria of the DGNB Platinum Standard of the German Sustainable Building Council. Among other things, photovoltaic systems, modern heat pump technology and intelligent building technology are used for resource-saving energy supply. The sustainability concept is supplemented by measures to promote biodiversity and an e-charging infrastructure for cars and bicycles.

The design of the office space also follows a modern and employee-oriented approach. The result is an open working environment with a continuous open-space structure, generous glass partitions, integrated soundproofing elements and a contemporary colour concept. Light-flooded and communicative workspaces have been created that promote cross-departmental collaboration and at the same time offer a high quality of stay.
